Accreditation

Josephinum Diaconate Institute courses fulfill the continuing education and formation requirements of permanent deacons, in accord with the USCCB’s National Directory for the Formation, Ministry, and the Life of Permanent Deacons in the United States.

The Certificate of Authorization from the Ohio Board of Regents, 30 East Broad Street, 36th floor, Columbus, OH 43215-3414, to the Pontifical College Josephinum and evidence of accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission, an affiliate of the North Central Association, 30 North LaSalle Street, Suite 2400, Chicago, IL 60602-2504, http://www.ncahigherlearningcommission.org/and by the Association of Theological Schools of the United States and Canada, 10 Summit Park Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15275-1103, are available in the office of the Registrar. 

The Josephinum was last accredited by the Association of Theological Schools of the United States and Canada (ATS) in 1970, and by the Higher Learning Commission, an affiliate of the North Central Association (NCA), in 2011 for a period of 10 years. 

The Pontifical College Josephinum is approved to enroll veterans under the Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act, 1952, P.L. 500; authorized under federal laws to enroll non-immigrant alien students; and designated the sponsor of an Exchange-Visitor Program in accordance with the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961.
